Earlier in the game - With rain around and the contest reduced to 18 overs a side, it was a no-brainer for Baba Indrajith to opt to bowl first. The Panthers got off to a brisk start, but the Dragons fought back well through the middle overs to pull things back. Madurai still managed to scrap their way to 171, though, giving themselves a competitive total to defend.

Madurai squeezed the chase - It was a similar story in both innings, with both teams making strong starts but failing to maintain the momentum through the middle phase. Dindigul made a bright start in the Powerplay, with Vineeth VK impressing on debut, while Shivam Singh also got going nicely. But they hit a rut in the middle overs and struggled to keep the scoring rate up. Credit to Siechem Madurai Panthers, who used the conditions well on a sticky wicket and made sure there was no way back in the chase for the Dragons.

Panthers roar loud - Four wins in as many games for Madurai, and they continue on their merry way. At the halfway mark, it looked like they might be a few runs short, but their bowlers put in a tremendous effort to defend the total and secure another impressive win. It is now a third defeat in four games for last year's runners-up, Dindigul Dragons, and they have it all to do in the second half of the campaign to turn things around.
