We are back for the chase! The India Women players make their way out to the middle and spread out to take up their respective fielding spots. Heather Siegers and Phebe Molkenboer are the two openers for Netherlands Women. Kranti Gaud to start proceedings with the ball. Here we go...

  • .

    ... THE RUN CHASE ...

  • .

Dutch bowlers show character - The nerves did seem to get to the Netherlands Women bowlers early on as they struggled with their lines and leaked 15 wides. Heather Siegers provided the first breakthrough, while Caroline de Lange was the standout performer with figures of 2/32. Myrthe van den Raad and Iris Zwilling also chipped in with a wicket each, and the Dutch did well to pull things back at the death. However, they were left to rue a missed chance when Richa Ghosh was dropped before she added some late damage. It is now a mountain to climb, and the Netherlands batters will need to play with freedom if they are to get close. Join us in a bit for the second essay.

  • .

Openers set the tone - At the toss, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur said India wanted to be more positive in the Powerplay, and the openers delivered in style. Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana took full advantage of some wayward Dutch bowling, adding 59 in the Powerplay and extending their stand to 115 off 83, with both reaching fine fifties. Mandhana went on to make a superb 74 before India suffered a brief wobble, but quick-fire cameos from Richa Ghosh (20* off 8) and Deepti Sharma (10* off 2) ensured they surged past the 200-run mark.

  • .

India Women go big with the bat - A commanding batting display from India Women! They have registered their highest-ever first-innings total in Women's T20 World Cup history. The gulf in class between the two sides was evident, and at times the magnitude of the occasion seemed to weigh on the Dutch players. Yet, Netherlands Women deserve credit for their spirit and determination, embracing the challenge with courage and refusing to be overawed. The chase promises to be a steep one, but India have already laid down a massive marker.

  • 19.7

FOUR! Deepti Sharma finishes things in style and India Women end with 209/5 on the board. A bit of a drag down, over middle and leg. Deepti Sharma swivels to the off side and pulls it up and over the backward square leg region for a boundary. Only the third score in excess of 200 runs in a Women's T20 World Cup game.

  • 19.6

SIX! Down the wrong line, and Deepti Sharma puts it away. 200 up for India as well. Full and on the pads, Deepti leans ahead and uses the wrists to flick it away, over long leg for a biggie.

  • .

The next batter in is Deepti Sharma.

  • 19.5

OUT! CAUGHT! Does catch it this time, does Robine Rijke. A bit slower from Iris Zwilling, pitched on a fullish length and at the stumps. Harmanpreet Kaur backs away again to open up the off side but she mistimes the ball high up in the air. The fielder at mid off takes a few steps back and takes it reverse cup.

  • 19.4

FOUR! A low full toss on middle and leg, Harmanpreet Kaur makesa a bit of room and drills it through mid off for a boundary.

  • 19.3

DROPPED! Oh, that's a straightforward chance dropped. Pitched up around off, Kaur hits it uppishly and straight to mid off. Robine Rijke takes a step to her right but shells it.

  • 19.2

WIDE! Fullish length, darted down leg, Kaur fails to get it away. According to Charles Dagnall on air, this is now India Women's highest total in a T20 World Cup.

  • 19.1

FOUR! Streaky! Good length around off, Harmanpreet Kaur looks to go over long off but gets a thick outside edge down to deep third and picks up a boundary.

  • .

Who bowls the final over? it will be Iris Zwilling. 200 is very much on for India Women.

  • 18.6

Top delivery! A wide yorker, angled across the right-hander from around the wicket. Ghosh fails to get any bat on it.

  • 18.5

DROPPED AND FOUR! A second life given to Richa Ghosh and this could be further punishment for the Dutch. Shorter over middle, Richa Ghosh backs away nice and early and slaps it flat and towards deep point. Silver Siegers is well inside the ropes and has to backtrack but the ball falls out of her reach and goes into the ropes.

  • 18.4

Length ball, on middle and leg, Kaur makes room to go big but she clofts the heave through wide mid on for a run more.

  • 18.3

A well-directed short ball, around shoulder height. Ghosh mistimes the pull up in the air but it lands well short of the deep square leg fielder. Single taken.

  • 18.2

SIX! Smashed! Full on leg, right in the slot. Richa Ghosh stays still, gets the front leg out and whacks it over wide long on for another big hit.

  • 18.1

Pitched up a bit full on middle and leg, Kaur works it around the corner on the leg side for a run.

  • .

Myrthe van den Raad to bowl out.

  • 17.6

Good length around off, Kaur plays the square cut and gets it past point for a quick single. 9 runs and a wicket off that over.

  • 17.5

Shortish length again, around off, Kaur hops back and punches it out to cover.

  • 17.4

Slow and short on off, stays low. Ghosh waits and punches it in front of point for a single.

  • 17.3

SIX! Richa Ghosh is already making Netherlands Women pay for that dropped catch. Tossed up fuller around off, Ghosh goes down on one knee and wallops the slog flat and straight down the ground for a biggie.

  • 17.2

No hat-trick! Dragged short and outside off, Harmanpreet Kaur slaps it over the cover region for a single in the deep.

  • .

Harmanpreet Kaur walks out to face the hat-trick ball.

  • 17.1
Yastika Bhatia st Babette de Leede b Caroline de Lange 3 (4)

OUT! STUMPED! Oh, that's smart bowling from Caroline de Lange and the Dutch are creating plenty of opportunities here. Caroline holds this one back a touch and floats it on a good length outside off. Yastika Bhatia comes down the track to go through the off side but ends up walking past it. Babette de Leede has all the time in the world to stump Bhatia out. Caroline is now on a hat-trick!

  • 16.7

Fullish length, angled into the legs, clipped away to deep square leg for one.

  • 16.6

DROPPED! Oh, a bit of hesitation and Phebe Molkenboer has put down a huge catch here. Myrthe van den Raad pitches the ball up on middle and leg. Richa Ghosh looks to flick but closes the bat face early and gets a leading edge. The ball lobs up around short extra cover and the fielders at mid off and extra cover converge. It is Phebe Molkenboer from extra cover who goes for it, but she shells it. She also has a shy at the bowler's end but misses, or else there could have been a chance of a run out. Single taken.

  • .

India on top - For now, India Women go top of Group A, thanks to a superior run-rate, but both India and Australia are looking in prime form and the frontrunners in the race for the semi-finals. Next up, we have the chasing pack playing in the third and final game of the day. South Africa Women take on Pakistan Women in Birmingham, and Pakistan have decided to bat first in that clash. You can simply switch tabs and tune in to our coverage of that game, which is about to start at 5.30 pm GMT (11 pm IST). Cheers!

  • .

The skipper of India Women - Harmanpreet Kaur says that they were really good with the bat. Adds that it wasn't easy conditions to bat, but the way Smriti and Shafali batted, it set the tone for them. Mentions that Shafali Verma is always ready to bowl whenever the team needs and hopefully she can keep getting the breakthroughs and maybe become a good all-rounder in the future. Kaur shares that she doesn't have an exact update about Shreyanka Patil, but the medical team is looking after her and will provide an update soon. She reckons that they are in a really good position as a team and hopefully they continue to play good cricket as the tournament progresses. Kaur ends by praising the two seamers. Says that Kranti Gaud has been good with the new ball, while Nandni Sharma has used her experience of WPL here as well.

  • .

The captain of Netherlands Women - Babette de Leede says that India batted really well, especially up front, but her team came back well with the ball. Reckons they had a chance on this flat wicket, but failed to capitalize with the bat. On the catching, she says that it could have been better, and also with the ball they could have avoided so many extras. On Caroline de Lange, she says that Caroline bowled well and the opposition just played smart cricket, which they can learn from.

  • .

POTM - Smriti Mandhana is adjudged the Player of the Match for her brilliant knock of 74 runs. Smriti says that it was a good batting wicket. Adds that she has played a few matches here in Leeds in the Hundred and it is always a good batting wicket and quick outfield, but also credits Netherlands Women for their effort. Mentions that they didn't know much about the Dutch before the game and watched a lot of videos for the preparation but also appreciate the opponents for the way they fielded and bowled. Says it was about sticking to their strength and doing the job for the team. Shares that she didn't middle the ball as she would have liked in her innings and it is still a work in progress, but she wants to keep improving every game.

  • .

    The Presentation ceremony...

  • .

Recapping the first innings - Babette de Leede opted to bowl first under overcast conditions as Netherlands Women looked to keep the Indian batters in check. However, this backfired and the Indian openers put on a 115-run stand. The Dutch bowlers bowled too many extras up front as both Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana notched up their individual fifties. Netherlands Women did come back well with the ball but India Women managed to cross the 200 run barrier thanks to their batting depth.

  • .

The Dutch show sparks of brilliance - The scoreline might depict a huge loss but for a long while, Netherlands Women's top order took the fight to the Indian bowlers. Babette de Leede and Sterre Kalis held the fort down in the middle overs but once the top order got out, things started to fall apart. They went from 113/5 to 114 all out, something they will look to rectify soon.

  • .

Nearly perfect - India Women have now won two games on the trot by huge margins and seem like a well-oiled unit, but that injury to Shreyanka Patil is something they wouldn't have wanted, especially so early in the tournament. With the ball, the pacers were decent but Nandni Sharma did show some sparks on her World Cup debut, but the spinners were the stars of the show. Sree Charani picked up four wickets and Shafali Verma too contributed with three wickets, who was given an extended spell after that injury to Patil.

  • .

India flex their muscles - Well, that was a quick end to the Netherlands Women innings and India Women have made it two wins out of two to kickstart their World Cup campaign. The reigning ODI World Champions are looking as one of the sides to beat in the shortest format of the game as well.

  • 17.3

OUT! CAUGHT! Shafali Verma wraps things up with a three-fer. INDIA WOMEN WIN BY 95 RUNS. Verma floats it up, full and on middle and leg. OUT! STUMPED! Shafali Verma gets her second now. She slows it up, full and just around off, Silver Siegers gets low and has a swipe across the line but misses. She loses her balance a bit and drags her back foot out of the crease. Richa Ghosh collects it behind the stumps and breaks the stumps in a flash. She looks quite confident and the fast replay confirms that Siergers never made it back. India Women are just one wicket away from the win now.

  • .

    Silver Siegers is in next.

  • 16.2

OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Two in two for Sree Charani and she will be on a hat-trick now. A flatter delivery, full and on off, Myrthe van den Raad looks to work it across the line but the ball keeps straight and grazes the outside edge and goes behind, where Richa Ghosh takes a sharp catch just above her waist. However, Myrthe takes a review here. UltraEdge shows a slight murmur and the on-field call of Out stays.

  • .

Out goes Frederique Overdijk, in comes Myrthe van den Raad.

  • 16.1
Jemimah Rodrigues c Babette de Leede b Myrthe van den Raad 19 (13)
