No room to breathe - Trent Rockets will be delighted with their bowling display, executing their plans to perfection. Knowing early wickets were crucial, Samantha Bates struck early before Charley Phillips joined the act, and from there the bowlers kept the pressure on with wickets at regular intervals, never allowing the chase to gather momentum. Ashleigh Gardner led superbly from the front with outstanding figures of 4/16, including the prized scalp of her fellow Australian Meg Lanning, while Bates and Phillips claimed two wickets apiece and Georgia Adams chipped in with one to complete a clinical all-round performance.

Rockets capitalise before Super Giants respond - Earlier in the game, Trent Rockets Women posted a strong total despite a dramatic late collapse that saw them lose seven wickets for 53 runs. A superb 91-run partnership between Sophia Dunkley and Sophie Luff, with both raising well-made half-centuries, laid the perfect platform before Georgia Adams added a brisk 20 off 13 to carry them past the 150-run mark. Manchester Super Giants Women struggled for control early on but fought their way back impressively, with Sophie Ecclestone starring with 2/24, while Grace Ballinger, Mady Villiers and Maitlan Brown chipped in with a wicket each.

Chase never takes flight - Manchester Super Giants Women never really found their rhythm in the chase, losing Smriti Mandhana early before slipping to 31/3. Meg Lanning stood tall, anchoring the innings while keeping the scoreboard moving, but wickets continued to fall around her. Richa Ghosh chipped in with a brisk cameo, and Kathryn Bryce offered valuable support, but with the required rate climbing steadily, Lanning's dismissal for 35 all but ended the chase. Bryce and Maitlan Brown battled for a while, but the target ultimately proved a step too far as they were bowled out for 122.
