ಕಾಮೆಂಟರಿ

  • One down, one to go - The Manchester Super Giants Women have already claimed bragging rights in this derby. Can the men follow suit and complete the double, or will Sunrisers Leeds hit back to split the spoils? Leeds have won the toss and opted to bowl first in the men's contest. Please switch tabs and join us for that game. Cheers!

  • Reflecting on the win - The captain of Manchester Super Giants Women, Meg Lanning says there were plenty of good patches from her side, but credits Smriti Mandhana for winning them the game almost single-handedly. She says Mandhana's innings kept putting the pressure back on the opposition and was a joy to watch. Lanning feels her side played good cricket in phases, but admits putting together a complete performance remains a challenge. Believes that Leeds got away from them at the back end of the first innings and says those are the areas they need to tidy up. Looking at the positives, Meg says the group has gelled together nicely. She believes having two wins on the board despite not playing their best cricket is encouraging. Shares that the team has spoken a lot about being flexible with the batting order depending on the conditions and the match situation.

  • Late surge lifted Leeds - After Sunrisers Leeds were asked to bat first, Bryony Smith and Phoebe Litchfield got themselves in but couldn't quite kick on, and Manchester Super Giants kept the scoring in check for most of the innings. However, Annabel Sutherland, Lauren Winfield-Hill and Danielle Gibson provided the late flourish for the home side. Leeds plundered 39 runs off the last 15 balls to finish with a competitive total of 142.

  • The calm amidst the chaos - It was a steady start to the chase for the Super Giants on a surface where the ball held up at times. Wickets fell around Smriti Mandhana, but she held firm and guided the innings expertly. The Super Giants also overcame a wobble when they lost 4 wickets for just 10 runs. Mandhana was aided by a couple of reprieves, first when Phoebe Litchfield put down a straightforward chance during that slide, and later when Darcey Carter spilled another opportunity. Those let-offs proved costly as Mandhana grew in confidence as the innings progressed and found the boundary with increasing regularity. Hannah Baker kept Leeds in the contest with a couple of outstanding boundary saves, but Mandhana remained unfazed, seeing the chase through with Kathryn Bryce for company.

  • PLAYER OF THE MATCH - No surprises here. Smriti Mandhana takes home the award for her match-winning knock of 88 not out from 50 balls. Mandhana says that it feels great to win the match for her side, and feels that she got a bit lucky as well with the dropped catch. On the chase, she says that they discussed the hold in the wicket and still wanted to play positive cricket. Reckons that she didn't start well, but is happy to end on a positive note. Goes on to add that she feels bad about the first run out, which was her fault, but the Time-Out came at the right time and credits Kathryn Bryce for sticking around at the end. Goes on to add that the ball was holding in the deck, but she got used to the pace of the deck and managed to put away the bad balls later in the game. Finishes off by saying that when you win matches like this one, it really puts you in a good space as a team.

  • Smriti Mandhana gets the job done - Manchester Super Giants Women come up trumps to register their second win in three games, with the other fixture ending in a washout. It's a second defeat in three outings for Sunrisers Leeds Women, who will be left to rue the chances they put down in the field.

SIX! Smriti Mandhana finishes things off in style, and Manchester Super Giants win by 4 wickets. Annabel Sutherland bowls it on a good length, keeping the stumps in play. Mandhana yet again comes down the track and holds her shape, hammering it straight back down the ground to close things out with back-to-back sixes. Mandhana has really iced this chase to perfection.

  • Danielle Gibson to bowl the final set. Can she conjure up something special and pull off a heist?

  • End of Over 19
    Over 19. 14 runs. Bowler: Jess Jonassen. : 141/6 (rr 7.42)

SIX! Mandhana goes exactly where the fielder was, but it wouldn't have mattered. Tossed up on the stumps, Mandhana makes great use of the feet as she steps out and nails the lofted shot over long off for a biggie. Just 2 needed now off the final set of 5. This is now Mandhana's highest score in The Hundred as well.

  • The timer has run out, and Sunrisers Leeds Women have not managed to bowl their overs in time. As a result, they will be allowed only 3 fielders outside the inner circle for the remainder of the innings. Advantage Manchester Super Giants Women.

  • 18.4

Slower one, bowled flat on off. Bryce gets inside the line and sweeps it down to long leg for a single.

  • 18.3

Excellent ground fielding again. Full and straight, Kathryn Bryce employs the sweep well, hitting it hard and to the right of deep mid-wicket. Danielle Gibson runs around and dives in, just about managing to save the boundary. Two taken.

  • 18.2

Fullish length on middle, Mandhana comes forward and flicks it through the leg side for a run.

  • 18.1

DROPPED AND FOUR! Is that the game gone for the Sunrisers? Jess Jonassen bowls it full and flat on off. Smriti Mandhana gets across to slog sweep and hits it flat towards deep backward square leg. Darcey Carter misjudges the ball a bit and lets it through the hands over her head. The ball bounces over the ropes for a boundary as well.

  • Jess Jonassen to bowl the penultimate set.

  • End of Over 18
    Over 18. 10 runs. Bowler: Annabel Sutherland. : 127/6 (rr 7.06)

  • 17.5

Low full toss on the stumps, Mandhana slogs it to deep mid-wicket for a single. 16 needed now off 10 balls.

  • 17.4

Hannah Baker has done it again, another couple of crucial runs saved in the field. Good length, angled into the batter. Smriti Mandhana backs away a fair bit and hits it high over covers. This time Baker runs to her right and puts in a late lunge to grab the ball with her right hand, and she flicks it in before going over the ropes.

  • 17.3

Not much damage done. Back of a length, angling it in. Bryce gets cramped up and just hits it down to long on for one.

  • 17.3

No ball! That is a cardinal sin at this stage of the game from Annabel Sutherland. Full and straight, Mandhana backs away and jams it out to wide mid off for a single. Sutherland has overstepped and a Free Hit will now follow.

  • 17.2

Hard length on off, Mandhana shuffles across and laps it just over the short fine leg fielder, picking up two more runs.

  • 17.1

That is a sensational presence of mind from Hannah Baker. Good length outside off, Smriti Mandhana uses her feet and smacks it over extra cover. Baker runs around to her left and dives in to save the boundary, but she is tumbling onto the ropes. However, she manages to flick the ball out of her hands and recovers well to keep it down to two runs.

  • Annabel Sutherland comes back on.

  • End of Over 17

  • 16.5

Full and on off, Kathryn Bryce employs the reverse sweep, hitting it to the right of backward point. Cassidy McCarthy dives across and gets a hand on it, but the ball rolls behind. Deepti Sharma from cover chases it down and the batters get three runs. The equation is now 26 off 15 balls.

  • 16.4

Tossed up on middle and leg, Mandhana advances and converts it into a full toss, but only manages to punch it down to long on for a run.

  • 16.3

Fired in, full and on the pads, worked away wide of short fine leg for just one more.

  • 16.2

A bit fuller, angled into the batter. Mandhana eases it down to long on and picks up one more.

  • 16.1

Good length on off, patted down past the right of the bowler for a single.

  • End of Over 16

  • 15.5

Tossed up, full and wide outside off. Mandhana comes forward and reaches for it, driving it wide to the left of Annabel Sutherland at sweeper cover for two runs. 33 needed now off 20 balls.

  • 15.4

SIX! Mandhana is keeping her side in the game. Dragged length at the stumps, Smriti Mandhana dances down the track and holds her shape, hitting it down the ground for a six.

  • 15.3

Darted outside the off stump, wider too. Mandhana reaches out but fails to lay a bat on it.
