We are back for the chase! The players are making their way out to the middle now. Darcey Carter and Katherine Fraser are the two openers for Scotland Women. Chinelle Henry to start proceedings with the ball. Here we go.

  • .

    ... THE RUN CHASE ...

  • .

The Taylor storm - Jahzara Claxton provided a crisp 16-run cameo, but it was Stafanie Taylor who completely turned the game on its head. Taylor went absolutely ballistic at the death, hammering a flawless, unbeaten 47 off just 19 deliveries to catapult the final score to 153. Scotland’s bowlers were exceptional for most of the innings but completely lost their radar in the final overs. Fraser finished as the pick of the bowlers with two wickets, while Kathryn Bryce, Kirstie Gordon, and Rachel Slater chipped in with one apiece. 153 is considered a slightly below par score here. Can Scotland Women chase this down? Or will the West Indies Women strike early? We shall find out. We will be back for the chase in a bit!

  • .

A quick word - Rachel Slater is in for a chat. She says that they are slightly disappointed as they couldn't end well, but they are happy with the score as 180 is considered a par score here. She says that she is looking forward to seeing their openers. She reckons that she is excited to be back and ends by saying that she is happy to be here.

  • .

A double blow - Shemaine Campbelle and the experienced Deandra Dottin then joined forces to steady the ship. The duo combined for a vital 35-run partnership, dragging the score to a modest 59/2 at the halfway mark after ten overs. However, just when it looked like the Windies were shifting into overdrive, Scotland fought back beautifully. They dealt a massive double-blow, removing both set batters, Dottin and Campbelle, in quick succession across the 13th and 14th overs to put the batting side right back on the defensive.

  • .

A slow start - West Indies Women end their innings at 153/6. It was a noticeably sluggish start for the West Indies Women after being put under the pump early. They lost opener Qiana Joseph inside the Powerplay, courtesy of a spectacular catch from Katherine Fraser. By the end of Powerplay, the Windies were crawling along at 33/1, desperately searching for a shift in gears. Skipper Hayley Matthews never really looked comfortable either, scratching around the crease before departing in the eighth over.

  • 19.6

SIX! Goodbye ball! Stafanie Taylor finishes the innings in style. West Indies Women end up with 153/6. Rachel Slater bangs this into the pitch, on middle, Taylor opens up her stance and dismisses the ball out of her presence over the deep mid-wicket fence for a biggie.

  • 19.5

Appeal for LBW, but turned down! Rachel Slater hits the length hard, on middle and leg, Jannillea Glasgow looks to heave it across the line but misses and gets hit on the pads as the ball drops on the pitch. Shemaine Campbelle wants the strike and the batters sneak in a leg bye. There is also a shout for LBW, but not given and Scotland Women take the review. UtraEdge confirms no bat involved and Ball Tracking shows wickets on umpire's call, with the ball just clipping the leg stump. The on-field call of Not Out stays.

  • 19.4

Fuller again and outside off, Stafanie Taylor reaches out and drills it really hard but straight to point. Just one.

  • 19.3

SIX! That is a superb shot! Pitched up and on middle, in the slot as well. Stafanie Taylor clears her front leg away, shows the full face of the bat and dispatches it over the long off fence for half a dozen more.

  • 19.2

Very full and around off, Jannillea Glasgow jams it out towards extra cover for a single. Good thing for the Windies that Stafanie Taylor is back on strike.

  • 19.1

Fuller one and angling down the leg side, Jannillea Glasgow backs away to flick it away but misses as the ball goes behidn to the keeper.

  • .

  • 18.5

SIX! Clean strike! Flighted, full and on off, Stafanie Taylor dances down the track to get to the pitch of it, hits through the line, launching it over the long off fence for a biggie.

  • .

Kirstie Gordon to bowl the penultimate over.

  • 17.6

Short and down the leg side, Jannillea Glasgow looks to flick it away but misses. The keeper does well to collect it to her right. Not given as a wide. Maybe it clipped the pads.

  • 17.5

Flighted, full and on off, Jannillea Glasgow drills it towards extra cover, where the fielder gets fingertips on it but the ball still goes behind. Two taken.

  • .

The next batter in is Jannillea Glasgow.

Jahzara Claxton c Kathryn Bryce b Katherine Fraser 16 (9)

OUT! TAKEN IN THE DEEP! Katherine Fraser gets her second. She fires this one, full and on middle and leg, Jahzara Claxton skips down the track to slog it away but she hits it to the longer side and does not get enough power on the shot. It flies wide of long on, where Kathryn Bryce moves to her left and takes a fine reverse cup catch to break the 37-run stand.

  • 17.3

Flatter, full and on off, Stafanie Taylor uses her feet and drills it to long off for a single.

  • 17.2

FOUR! Goes through the hands! Floated, full and around off, Stafanie Taylor backs away and smacks it towards extra cover, where the fielder leaps up but the ball goes through her hands for another boundary.

  • 17.1

FOUR! Fine shot! Tossed up, full and on middle, Stafanie Taylor steps out, shows the full face of the bat and lifts it high in the air. She holds her pace as the ball lands just ahead of the ropes at long on and goes for a boundary.

  • 16.6

SIX! Finally, a biggie in the 17th over! Kathryn Bryce tries to follow the batter again, bowls this full into the pads. Jahzara Claxton clears her front leg away and smokes it over the deep mid-wicket fence for the first six of the game.

  • 16.4

Over and out - That wraps up an entertaining contest, with West Indies Women picking up a crucial two points against Scotland Women. The action in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 now moves to the Hampshire Bowl in Southampton, where New Zealand Women take on Ireland Women in a Group B clash on Friday, 19th June. The first ball is scheduled for 5.30 pm GMT, but do join us a little earlier for all the build-up and pre-match updates. Until then, it's goodbye and cheers!

  • .

The victorious skipper of West Indies Women - Hayley Matthews says it is still sinking in after a very close game and admits there were plenty of nerves around, but she is glad that they got over the line. She credits Scotland Women for bowling in the right areas and says both she and the other batters struggled to find different scoring options. Matthews feels Stafanie Taylor made the difference with her classical strokeplay and praises her versatility and experience, especially in a slightly different role. She also notes that it was clear from the first innings that spin was difficult to get away, which is why she wanted her spinners on as early as possible. She reveals that Shemaine Campbelle had been unwell since the morning and was only a 50-50 chance to play, while Deandra Dottin's passion and desire to contribute remain unquestioned despite an unfortunate outing. Looking ahead, Matthews says every World Cup game is hugely important and expects a big challenge against Sri Lanka Women, adding that they will need to perform better than they did in this game.

  • .

The captain of Scotland Women - Kathryn Bryce says that they started well but lost their way towards the end. She adds that they were a bit sluggish on their lines and lengths and that is what cost them the game. She reckons that they played good cricket and West Indies Women were smart with their pace off bowling. Bryce mentions that Carter was brilliant and Lister fought well, as they always felt they were in the hunt. Ends by saying that they are excited for their next game against England, and they will give their best.

  • .

Let's hear from the captains now...

  • .

From early woes to late relief - West Indies Women will be relieved with the result, but their bowling effort was far from perfect. After being taken apart in the first five overs, Hayley Matthews sparked the turnaround with a double strike in the sixth over, before adding another in her next over, while Afy Fletcher chipped in with two wickets as the Windies took control. However, sloppy fielding and a couple of dropped catches allowed Scotland to build a vital partnership and threaten an upset. Just when the game was slipping away, Aaliyah Alleyne's three-wicket burst in the penultimate over swung the momentum back, before Qiana Joseph sealed a hard-fought victory.

  • .

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Stafanie Taylor wins the award for her crucial knock of 47* off 19 balls. She says that she feels good to be back and she never likes it on the sidelines. She adds that she was going to bat at number 5, but because of the situation, she came in at number 7. Taylor further says that she was targeting a boundary in every over. She reckons that she worked on her technique and that is what helped in improving her batting.

  • .

West Indies recover from early trouble - Earlier in the game, West Indies Women looked to be in deep trouble at 85/5. However, a composed 36 off 26 balls from Shemaine Campbelle steadied the ship, and Jahzara Claxton's brisk cameo injected some much-needed momentum. That platform was then brilliantly capitalised on by Stafanie Taylor, who unleashed a late assault, smashing an unbeaten 47 off just 19 deliveries to propel her side to a competitive total. For Scotland Women, Katherine Fraser was the standout bowler with two wickets, while Kirstie Gordon, Rachel Slater and Kathryn Bryce chipped in with one apiece. But conceding 40 runs in the final three overs allowed the momentum to swing firmly in West Indies Women's favour.

  • .

Carter's courageous knock goes in vain - Scotland Women made a blazing start, with the openers powering their side to 51 in just five overs. However, the innings unravelled rapidly as they slipped to 58/4 and then 74/5. Darcey Carter, who had set the tone early on, refused to give up. Battling through an injury, she dug deep for a courageous half-century and, alongside Alisa Lister, who smashed 33 off 25, stitched together a crucial 58-run stand that brought the equation down to 22 needed off 12 balls. But with both batters falling in the same over, Scotland's hopes disappeared as they eventually fell 7 runs short.

  • .

Windies survive Scottish scare - So close, yet so far for Scotland Women! They pushed the 2016 champions all the way and had West Indies Women under immense pressure, but in the end, the experience of performing on the biggest stage proved decisive. A little more game awareness at key moments and the result might have been different for the Scots. West Indies were far from flawless and looked nervy in the field, but they will breathe a sigh of relief as they secure back-to-back wins and strengthen their push for a semi-final spot.

  • 19.6

OUT! RUN OUT! Short and wide, Gabriella Fontenla moves to her off side and pulls it through mid-wicket. She calls for a second run. Jahzara Claxton picks it up and throws it towards the keeper, Mandy Mangru, who whips the bails off in a flash. Gabriella Fontenla was way too short. Scotland Women have been bowled out for 146 on the final ball. West Indies Women win by 7 runs.

  • 19.5

A mix-up in the middle. Short, on off, Gabriella Fontenla knocks it down the ground for a single. The fielder throws it towards Qiana Joseph who fails to collect it. The ball rolls towards cover as the batters collect one more. Two runs taken.

  • .

Qiana Joseph gets a wicket now. Gabriella Fontenla is the last batter.

  • 19.4

OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Excellent work behind the stumps from Mandy Mangru. Qiana Joseph gets her name in the wicket column. Slower one, outside off, Rachel Slater rocks back and looks to slap it, but misses it completely. Gets a faint edge and the keeper, Mandy Mangru, takes a sharp catch behind the stumps. West Indies Women are inching closer towards the victory.

  • 19.3

Short and wide, Rachel Slater moves to her right and pulls it towards deep mid-wicket. A mix-up in the middle but the throw was wayward as the batters comfortably complete two more runs.

  • 19.2

Much fuller, on middle and leg, Rachel Slater sweeps it through square leg for two more. This is excellent running between the wickets.

  • 19.1

Short, on off, Rachel Slater punches it through cover for a brace.

  • .

Third wicket for Aaliyah Alleyne. Chloe Abel is the new batter. Qiana Joseph to bowl the final over.

  • 18.6

OUT! TIMBER! Third wicket for Aaliyah Alleyne and this should be it. Slower one, on off, Kirstie Gordon moves to her leg side and exposes the stumps. The ball keeps a bit low and beats the blade of Kirstie Gordon and rattles over the stumps. Kirstie Gordon walks back for a duck.

  • .

Aaliyah Alleyne strikes again. Kirstie Gordon walks in to bat now.

  • 18.5

OUT! TIMBER! Aaliyah Alleyne gets another wicket. Slows it up, on middle and leg, Ailsa Lister moves to her off side and looks to scoop it. Misses it completely as the ball rattles over the top of leg. Ailsa Lister's cameo comes to an end and Scotland Women are 137/7. They need 17 runs from 7 balls now.

  • 18.4

Angling in, on off, Ailsa Lister taps it back to the bowler.

  • 18.3

MISFIELD AND FOUR! That should have been stopped! Good length, on off, Ailsa Lister flicks it through mid-wicket. The fielder runs to his right and tries to pick the ball but parries it to the fence for a boundary.

  • 18.2

Hard length, on off, Rachel Slater taps it to short cover for a quick single.

  • .

Aaliyah Alleyne breaks the gritty stand. Rachel Slater walks in to bat now.

  • 18.1

OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! Aaliyah Alleyne breaks the much-needed stand. Slows it up and keeps it on middle. Darcey Carter looks to loft it but the ball hits the upper part of her bat. The ball goes high up in the air and back towards Aaliyah Alleyne, who takes a comfortable catch.

  • .

22 needed now from the final 2 overs. Aaliyah Alleyne comes into the attack.

  • 17.9

Just short! Short and wide, Darcey Carter looks to slap it but edges it. The ball lands just short of the fielder at short third. The batters cross.

  • 17.8

Too full, outside off, Darcey Carter digs it to short cover. A mix-up as Darcey Carter sets off for a single but is sent back. Deandra Dottin has a shy at the batter's end but misses. A direct hit and Darcey Carter was a goner.

  • 17.7

FOUR! This goes over backward point! Short and wide, Darcey Carter reaches out to it and slaps it magnificently over backward point for a boundary. Pressure on Deandra Dottin now.

  • 17.6

Short and wide, Darcey Carter swings hard but misses.
